Inductance is a closed loop and property of a physical quantity. When the coil passes current, a magnetic field induction is formed in the coil, which in turn generates an induced current to resist the current flowing through the coil. This interaction between current and coil is called inductance or inductance in Henry (H) after American scientist Joseph Henry. It is a circuit parameter that describes the effect of electromotive force induced in this coil or another due to changes in coil current. Inductance is a general term for self-inductance and mutual inductance. A device that provides an inductor is called an inductor.

Inductance unit
Since inductance was discovered by American scientist Joseph Henry, the unit of inductance is “Henry”, abbreviated as Henry (H).

Other units of inductance are: millihenry (mH), microhenry (μH), nanohenry (nH)

Inductance unit conversion
1 Henry [H] = 1000 millihenry [mH]

1 millihenry [mH] = 1000 microhenry [uH]

1 microhenry [uH] = 1000 nanohenry [nH]
A property of a conductor measured by the ratio of the electromotive force or voltage induced in the conductor to the rate of change of the current that produces this voltage. A steady current produces a stable magnetic field, and a changing current (AC) or fluctuating DC produces a changing magnetic field, which in turn induces an electromotive force in a conductor in this magnetic field. The magnitude of the induced electromotive force is proportional to the rate of change of the current. The scaling factor is called the inductance, denoted by the symbol L, and in henries (H). Inductance is a property of a closed loop, i.e. when the current through the closed loop changes, an electromotive force occurs to resist the change in current. This inductance is called self-inductance and is a property of the closed loop itself. Assuming that the current in one closed loop changes, an electromotive force is generated in another closed loop due to induction, and this inductance is called mutual inductance.
